2023 Le Chiuse, Rosso di Montalcino
2023 Le Chiuse, Rosso di Montalcino
11 available
Le Chiuse farms historic vineyards on the north side of Montalcino, an area known for cooler exposures than the southern slopes. The estate traces its roots to the Biondi-Santi family and follows a traditional approach.
The Rosso receives the same treatment as the Brunello: long macerations with native yeasts in concrete, followed by about a year in large Slavonian oak casks. Fruit comes from higher-elevation parcels planted on limestone, clay, and ancient marine sediments.
The 2023 season brought heat and uneven ripening across Tuscany. The north-facing vineyards helped maintain balance. Red cherry, dried herbs, and earth with the structure that defines Sangiovese from this part of Montalcino.
