2021 Francois Chidaine, Montlouis-sur-Loire, Clos du Breuil

Chenin Blanc from the Loire valley is one of life’s greatest joys and one of the wine world’s most noble and dynamic white grape varieties in its ancestral home. Francois Chidaine has long been one of our go-to producers for some of the most compelling Chenin Blanc coming out of the Loire, and his wines today are finer and more dialed in than they've ever been. You could chalk this up to his adoption of regenerative farming practices that go well beyond organic or biodynamic to actively rebuild the soil in his land. Between his impeccable farming and decades of experience making natural wines, it is no surprise these are some of our most treasured bottles of Chenin. Clos du Breuil is drawn from a few plots spread over 3.5 hectares in Montlouis with vines ranging from 40-80 years old. Dry, crisp, and racy this is a Chenin that vibrantly flaunts the minerality the grape is capable of as well as the hallmark texture and class we’ve learn to love from this grape in this region. Montluis is a special place and definitely one of the most important appellations for Chenin along with Savennières, Anjou and Saumur.
