We haven’t exactly been bashful about how much we love the 2018 vintage in Beaujolais.  It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a vintage where the wines have been as uniformly delicious as they are and longer since that early appeal was combined with immense potential in the cellar. The wines seem to combine best elements of a warm vintage like 2009 delivering power and breadth, married to the fresh acidity and focus of a cooler season like 2014. They all show depth without heat and lift without being shrill while displaying elegant, pure fruit. We always try to avoid hyperbole when we write about the wines that excite us, but in this case, it just has to be said: This is Beaujolais at its very best!

The bulk of the wines for the vintage have arrived at this point and we thought it was high time to recap some favorites. If you know us well, you know we often say that fine wines need not be expensive.  It’s always a pleasure for us to be able to offer wines of this caliber at such reasonable prices and something we take great pride in curating for our customers. We are certain that they will perform beautifully in the cellar and in the best cases age gracefully over the course of the coming decades. This is a great opportunity to build the beginnings of a cellar or refresh a well-established collection. Of course Beaujolais delivers plenty of sumptuous pleasure in its youth while the wines are still vivid and fresh, but if you can resist them, time in the cellar will reward you!
