Brothers Alessandro and Gian Natale Fantino have quietly been producing soulful Barolo for decades. Strangely, they still have yet to become a household name, but make no mistake, the quality here is very impressive. Cascina Dardi, where the grapes for this wine are grown, is a coveted parcel in the cru of Bussia. The late, great Beppe Colla, who was one of the first winemakers to bottle Bussia in the 1960s, absolutely adored this site, claiming it to be the most interesting terroir in all of Piedmont. The vines enjoy a near perfect exposure to the sun and the soil composition offers both delicacy and structure. Give this a good decant and enjoy with a variety of roasted meats and/or vegetables.
