Domaine Magdalena is a small property owned by Maggie Hedges in the Red Mountain AVA inside the Columbia Valley. The property was founded in 2004 and has been farmed biodynamically since day one with Demeter certification achieved in 2011. Maggie produces a single wine each year, a distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon drawn from her own-rooted estate vines. This is unabashedly old-school Cab and just the sort of wine we are always searching for on the west coast. There is plenty of ripe black berry fruit here backed by notes of tobacco, cedar, earth, and musky violets. Its mid-weight and velvety smooth with just enough acidity to keep things fresh. Marvelous stuff and a rare find we are happy to have made. Fermented with indigenous yeast in steel, aged in American oak barrels 20% of which are new. Unfined and unfiltered. 13% ABV.
