Muscadet is an appellation in the Loire Valley in France. The wine is made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne, a distant cousin to Chardonnay. It’s a classic oyster pairing wine and one that wine trade professionals drink a ton of as it offers insane value, wonderful ageability and tons of class. Monnieres-St-Fiacre was the first officially designated cru in Muscadet, and the vines are planted in sandy limestone on gneiss soils. Pépière owns 3.35 hectares within the cru. The vines were planted in 1948, 1984 and 1991. This wine is very open and giving and can also be a great cocktail wine.
