It was a bottle of Tissot Bruyères, served blind to Guillaume d’Angerville, which revealed to him the Jura’s potential as he was utterly convinced it was an exceptional white Burgundy; when the waiter remarked it was from the Jura, Guillaume set about his plans to make wine there — setting in motion what would eventually become Domaine du Pelican.
2018 is the first time that many of these wines have been isolated into lieux-dits and bottled by individual cru. Grand Curoulet is often regarded as the first vineyard site in all of the Jura, where a windy corridor and a north-facing exposition make for a later-ripening site. About 1/3 is planted to Chardonnay, all located at the very top of the vineyard.
