This comes from the Right Bank of Bordeaux and specifically from the Francs Cotes de Bordeaux subregion, much less famous than Pomerol and St. Emilion, but on the same plateau. As is usually the case, the blend here is dominated by Merlot with a bit of Cab Sauv and Cab Franc in the blend. This estate has been run continuously by the Amoreau family since 1610, and the 14th generation is at the helm. That’s an impressive history and not all that makes this property so cool. They farm biodynamically and utilize a minimally invasive philosophy in the cellar, not at all the norm in Bordeaux where overworked, overmanipulated wines is more of the norm. This is soulful, delicious Bordeaux that can age remarkably well. Try them now or over the coming decades. Great to put away in great vintages and follow over time.
