Emrich-Schonleber is a small family-owned estate situated on 20 hectares of land in the western reaches of the Nahe. The estate dates to the mid-18th century but it wasn’t until the 1970’s and 1980’s that they converted away from mixed agriculture to focus exclusively on wine growing. Since that time, they have risen in prominence and are now counted amongst one of the most important properties in the Nahe. The Mineral Trocken bottling is made from a blend of young-vine fruit from Grand Cru (Grosse Lage) vineyards in the Nahe planted on a mix of soils, largely blue and grey slate. This is a stony, zesty, unabashedly dry bottle of Riesling that is, you guessed it, quite mineral. The body is quite juicy and mouth watering with a very long, crisp finish. This would be perfect for freshwater fish, fried dishes, oysters, or simply enjoyed on its own on a hot summer day. Dry.
